Hero Kanu is a defensive tackle for Texas who transferred from Ohio State. Originally from Germany, Kanu moved to California in October 2020 and began playing organized football in spring 2021. He was a four-star recruit ranked 105th nationally in the 2022 class and attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School. During the 2025 season, Kanu appeared in 13 games with 12 starts, recording 31 total tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 4 quarterback hurries, and 1 pass deflection. He was named a 2026 Phil Steele preseason Second-Team SEC selection and Fourth-Team All-America selection.
