Rueben Owens II, a 5'11", 215-pound running back from El Campo, Texas, was a 5-star prospect ranked No. 24 overall in the 2023 recruiting class. As a true freshman in 2023, he appeared in 13 games with five starts and earned SEC All-Freshman Team honors after leading league true freshmen with 743 all-purpose yards, 385 rushing yards, and 249 kick return yards. He rushed 18 times for 106 yards and one score against ACU for his first 100-yard game and scored his first touchdown on a 21-yard run against ULM. A redshirt season in 2024 was interrupted by a foot injury in fall camp; he returned in Week 14 against Texas. Now a redshirt junior, Owens carries 5.4 yards per attempt with 639 rushing yards, 5 touchdowns, and 13 receptions for 130 yards in 2025.
