Tre Poteat III is a left cornerback for the Tennessee Volunteers from Fitchburg, Wisconsin. He attended Verona Area High School, where he was a four-star recruit ranked No. 403 nationally. Poteat enrolled at Tennessee in January 2025 and made his debut against Syracuse on August 30. During his freshman season, he appeared in 13 games, recording 12 total tackles and 2 pass breakups. His best performance came against UAB on September 20 with 6 tackles, and he added 2 tackles and a pass breakup versus New Mexico State on November 15.
