DeSean Bishop, a running back from Knoxville, Tennessee, joined the Volunteers as a walk-on from Karns High School in 2023 and earned a scholarship beginning in spring 2025. He redshirted his true freshman year after sustaining an injury during preseason camp. In 2024, his redshirt freshman season, Bishop appeared in nine games as a backup and rushed for 455 yards on 74 carries with three touchdowns, averaging 6.15 yards per carry. As a redshirt sophomore in 2025, he started all 13 games and became Tennessee's first returning 1,000-yard rusher since Jalen Hurd in 2016, accumulating 1,076 rushing yards on 182 carries with 16 touchdowns while adding 15 receptions for 135 yards. He earned All-SEC Second Team honors and was named a Burlsworth Trophy semifinalist.
