Jaxon Smolik is a quarterback from Van Meter, Iowa, who attended Dowling Catholic High School under head coach Tom Wilson. As a senior, he captained the Maroon to a 10-2 record and a state semifinal appearance while earning 5A all-state honors. In 2022, he threw for 1,967 yards and 19 touchdowns. Smolik committed to Penn State, where he made his collegiate debut against Delaware in 2023 before redshirting. He appeared in three games during the 2025 season, including taking victory formation snaps in wins over Nevada and Villanova, and rushed four times for three yards at Iowa. He transferred to Temple in January 2026.
