Shay Barker is a true freshman placekicker for Syracuse from Landenberg, Pennsylvania, where he attended Kennett High School under head coach Lance Frazier. A three-star recruit ranked by recruiting services, Barker earned two First Team All-League honors and helped Kennett win two Ches-mont American Championships and two Ches-mont South Championships. In his final prep season, he made nine field goals with a long of 44 yards and averaged 39.4 yards on punts, with 55 percent of his kickoffs resulting in touchbacks. He also competed in volleyball and previously played soccer at the club level.
