Demetres Samuel Jr. is a left cornerback for Syracuse from Palm Bay, Florida, where he attended Heritage High School. A four-star recruit ranked 244th nationally in the 2025 class, Samuel finished his freshman year fourth in ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year voting. He led the Orange in passes defended with nine pass breakups and recorded one interception while adding 45 tackles and two tackles for loss. Samuel also caught one pass for 10 yards, carried once for one yard, and returned four punts for 39 yards. He earned recognition as one of national outlets's top-20 freshmen nationally and was a Shaun Alexander Award Freshman of the Year semifinalist.
