Jermichael Gillis is a safety for South Florida, standing 6'1" and weighing 178 pounds. The Lakeland, Florida native attended Lakeland High School, where he recorded 40 tackles and two interceptions as a sophomore, then 36 tackles and one interception as a freshman. His high school team reached the state championship semifinals in his senior year with a 12-0 record and earned a No. 2 ranking in Florida and No. 11 nationally. Gillis chose USF over 17 offers from programs including Miami, LSU, and Michigan. He redshirted during the 2025 season and earned USF Athletics Honor Roll recognition that fall.
