Shawn Murphy is a 6'3", 233-pound linebacker from Manassas, Virginia who transferred to South Carolina as a redshirt junior in 2025. Originally a four-star recruit ranked 72nd nationally in the 2022 class, Murphy spent his first three seasons at Alabama and Florida State. In his inaugural year with the Gamecocks, he played in all 12 games with four starts at the WILL linebacker position, recording 49 tackles including 3.5 tackles for loss, one pass breakup, and one quarterback hurry. He posted a career-high 12 tackles in the win over Coastal Carolina and served as team captain against Oklahoma.
