Sam Utu is an offensive lineman for SMU from Orange, California, where he attended Orange Lutheran High School. Standing 6'5" and weighing 330 pounds, Utu was rated a four-star prospect by recruiting services heading into the 2026 class, earning a recruiting ranking of 255 overall. At the high school level, he was named 2nd team All-County as a junior in 2025 and 1st team All-County as a sophomore in 2024. Beyond football, Utu has been a varsity volleyball player since his freshman year at Orange Lutheran.
