Tariq Watson is a right cornerback from Gretna, Louisiana who attended Helen Cox High School. As a senior, he recorded 65 tackles, three interceptions, and four pass breakups. Watson began his college career at Minnesota in 2022, appearing in one game with two tackles in a redshirt season. He played in all 13 games in 2023, posting 10 tackles and a shared tackle for loss, including three tackles against Michigan. At UAB, Watson appeared in 11 games in 2024 and one contest in 2025, starting seven of nine games in the latter season. He has accumulated 12 tackles, two pass breakups, and one quarterback hurry across nearly 600 defensive snaps in 34 games with eight career starts. Watson transferred to Rice for the 2026 season.
