Michael Sifford is a slot receiver for the Rice Owls who transferred from Army Prep. The 5'11", 164-pound true freshman from Newton, North Carolina played at Newton-Conover High School, where he was a two-year starter and earned all-conference recognition as a senior. During his prep career, Sifford recorded 78 receptions for 1,283 yards and 12 touchdowns, while rushing for 218 yards. He also competed in track for four years, posting times of 21.98 in the outdoor 200 meters and 35.65 in the indoor 300 meters.
