Davis Lane is a 6'1", 201-pound wide receiver from Lynchburg, Virginia who transferred to Rice after four seasons at Virginia. Originally a three-star quarterback recruit in the Class of 2022, Lane played quarterback at Liberty Christian Academy, where he passed for over 1,500 yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior while leading the Bulldogs to a 13-1 record and the state championship game. At Virginia, Lane appeared in 24 games across three seasons, primarily contributing on special teams with nine career tackles. In 2025, he saw action in nine games, carrying the ball nine times for 39 yards while playing 28 offensive snaps and 87 special teams plays, posting an 81.9 grade.
