Clay Mitchell is an offensive lineman for Rice. The 6'4", 308-pound true freshman from Sinton, Texas was a four-year starter at Sinton High School under coach Michael Troutman. Mitchell earned second-team All-State honors as a junior and was named to the THSCA 4A Super Elite Team that same year. He received All-District first-team recognition as Lineman of the Year in his final three seasons and second-team All-District honors as a freshman. Over four seasons, Mitchell allowed only one sack. A member of Dave Campbell's Texas Football's Top 300, he was a 3-star recruit ranked 2313 overall in the 2026 class.
