RJ Whitten is a safety from Sacramento, California, who transferred to Oregon State from College of San Mateo. At San Mateo, the 6'0", 200-pound freshman posted 23 tackles, including three tackles for loss and one sack. He also recorded two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries, and tallied an 11-yard sack against Fresno. At Folsom High School, Whitten earned first-team all-league and first-team all-state honors. As a senior, he logged 45 tackles with four interceptions, while his junior season featured 47 tackles and two interceptions. Over his final two high school seasons, he totaled 15 pass breakups.
