Mario Thompson is a redshirt junior linebacker for Old Dominion from Richmond, Virginia. A three-star recruit from Trinity Episcopal High School, he appeared in nine games as a true freshman in 2023, starting eight, and recorded 42 tackles, two sacks, and 5.5 tackles for loss. In 2024, Thompson started all 12 games and finished third on the team with 65 tackles while adding four sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss. He returns to the roster after appearing in five games in 2025, including two starts at linebacker, accumulating eight tackles and one pass breakup.
