John Mateer, a 6'1" quarterback from Little Elm, Texas, transferred to Oklahoma after two seasons at Washington State. In 2024 with the Cougars, he completed 224 of 347 passes for 3,139 yards and 29 touchdowns while rushing 178 times for 826 yards and 15 touchdowns, setting program records for quarterback rushing attempts and yards. In his 2025 debut season with the Sooners, Mateer started all 12 games, completing 247 of 397 passes for 2,885 yards and 14 touchdowns alongside 149 rushing attempts for 431 yards and eight touchdowns.
