Melkart Abou Jaoude is a 6'5", 260-pound defensive end from Newton, New Jersey, who transferred to North Carolina after three seasons at Delaware. At Delaware, the redshirt sophomore recorded 24 tackles with 9.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks in 2024. In his 2025 redshirt junior season at Carolina, Abou Jaoude earned Second Team All-ACC honors after starting 11 of 12 games. He led the ACC with 10.5 sacks and ranked fifth nationally in that category, tying for the sixth-most sacks in a single Tar Heel season. He also logged 47 tackles and 5 quarterback hurries while appearing in 646 snaps, the most by an ACC defensive lineman.
