In his 2025 freshman season, June appeared in all games and started nine, including his debut against Richmond. He led the Tar Heels with 464 rushing yards on 84 carries and 2 touchdowns, adding 17 receptions for 159 yards and 1 receiving touchdown. June recorded 148 yards on 14 carries with a touchdown against Richmond, the most rushing yards by a freshman running back since Michael Carter in 2017. His 72-yard touchdown reception at Syracuse and 50-yard run against Richmond were the season's longest plays for Carolina.
