Xavier Slayton is a 6'2", 255-pound defensive tackle from Chicago, Illinois, who transferred to New Mexico after four seasons at Idaho. He redshirted in 2022, then appeared in 10 games as a redshirt freshman in 2023, recording 13 tackles and one pass breakup. In 2024, his redshirt sophomore year, Slayton played all 14 games and tallied 31 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks, and three hurries. During the 2025 redshirt junior season, he appeared in 11 games with one start, posting 20 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and an interception.
