Michael Kern is a 6'4", 195-pound punter from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who lettered at St. Thomas Aquinas. He was named All-America and All-State, with rating him the No. 4 punter in the country as a senior after earning 2023 MaxPreps Second Team All-America honors. As a senior, he averaged 46.3 yards per punt with 14 of 25 punts downed inside the 20 and recorded 20 touchbacks. He served as Texas's starting punter for the full 2024 season, averaging 41.6 yards on 41 punts and posting a long of 57 yards, including a 48.7-yard average against Arizona State in the CFP Quarterfinal. In 2025 at California, Kern punted in 11 games, averaging 41.5 yards on 39 boots with 16 fair catches and 12 punts inside the 20. Kern now transfers to New Mexico as a junior. From Ft.
