Sone Aupiu is a 6'1", 225-pound linebacker for New Mexico State who hails from Long Beach, California. After redshirting in 2022, Aupiu started all 15 games as a redshirt freshman in 2023, posting 47 total tackles and 6.5 tackles for loss. He earned starting assignments in all 12 games during 2024, finishing fourth on the team with 55 tackles and recording his first career interception against Middle Tennessee. In 2025, Aupiu appeared in 11 games with nine starts, accumulating 68 total tackles (34 solo), 5.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, and four pass breakups. He returns as a redshirt senior in 2026.
