Bernock Iya is a 6'2", 180-pound safety for New Mexico State. Originally from Azle, Texas, he played his freshman season at Texas State in 2022 before redshirting. He then spent two seasons at Tyler Junior College, appearing in 19 games and recording 40 total tackles, two interceptions, and two tackles for loss. In 2025, his first year with the Aggies, Iya appeared in all 12 games with five starts. He compiled 53 total tackles, including 31 solo tackles, along with four interceptions to lead the team. Iya added three tackles for loss, three pass breakups, two quarterback hurries, and one fumble recovery that he returned 42 yards for a touchdown against New Mexico.
