AJ Richardson is a middle linebacker from Kings Mountain, North Carolina, who transferred to NC State in January 2025. Richardson played two seasons at Norfolk State, where he recorded 169 total tackles across 23 games. As a freshman in 2023, he earned FCS Freshman All-American honors and MEAC All-Second Team recognition, posting 69 tackles with 11 tackles for loss. In 2024, Richardson led the MEAC with 100 tackles, including 30 solo stops, and was named All-MEAC. He earned Stats Perform FCS Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording 18 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and 2.0 sacks against Towson. At NC State, Richardson has appeared in 2025 with 12 total tackles and 3 quarterback hurries.
