Xavier Gayten is a running back for Mississippi State who prepped at Brookhaven High School, where he rushed for 5,216 yards and 54 touchdowns across his high school career. A 4-star recruit in the 2024 class, Gayten made his collegiate debut against Eastern Kentucky on August 31, 2024, and recorded 115 rushing yards on 8 carries with one touchdown as a true freshman, including a 72-yard touchdown run—the longest by a State player since 2016. In his 2025 sophomore season, he appeared in all 13 games and rushed for 157 yards on 29 carries with 2 touchdowns, averaging 5.4 yards per carry and leading State running backs in that metric.
