Tanner Johnson is a safety for Mississippi State at 6'0", 185 pounds, from Kyle, Texas, where he graduated from Lehman High School in 2022. He redshirted his true freshman year in 2022, made his collegiate debut in one game during the 2023 redshirt freshman season, and appeared in 12 games without starting in 2024, recording 16 tackles and 1.0 tackle for loss. In 2025, his redshirt junior season, Johnson played all 13 games and totaled 13 tackles while adding his first career pass breakup against Southern Miss and a forced fumble versus Alcorn State.
