Zahir Rainer is a redshirt sophomore safety for Minnesota. The Richmond, Virginia native attended Trinity Episcopal High School, where he earned First Team All-State honors three consecutive years and recorded 26 tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery as a senior. A consensus three-star recruit, he redshirted during the 2024 season. In 2025, his freshman campaign, Rainer appeared in three games, making his collegiate debut against Ohio State and competing at Northwestern and against New Mexico. He was named Academic All-Big Ten for 2025.
