Keahnist Thompson is a 6'3", 259-pound edge defender from Lakeland, Florida, who transferred to Michigan State with one season of eligibility remaining. Thompson began his college career at UCF in 2022, recording one tackle in his only appearance. He then spent three seasons at Weber State (2023–2025), appearing in 32 games with 19 starts. Over his time with the Wildcats, he accumulated 80 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss (67 yards), and 7.0 sacks (53 yards). In 2025, his final year at Weber State, Thompson started all nine games played, led the team with four sacks (26 yards), and was voted a team captain by teammates.
