Derrick Simmons is a redshirt freshman defensive tackle for Michigan State who enrolled in January 2025 after being ranked a consensus four-star prospect and the No. 1 defensive tackle in Michigan. During his redshirt freshman season in 2025, he appeared in four games while preserving eligibility, playing 44 snaps on defense across contests against Western Michigan, Boston College, Youngstown State, and Minnesota. He recorded two tackles during the season, including a season-high two in 12 snaps versus Youngstown State on September 13. Simmons returns to East Lansing for his second season on the roster.
