DJ Samuels is a fullback from Englewood, New Jersey, who attended Bergen Catholic High School, where he was the program's all-time sacks leader and a three-time First Team All-State selection. He arrived at Maryland as a three-star recruit ranked 1225 nationally in the 2023 class. As a sophomore in 2024, Samuels appeared in all 12 games, recording 14 tackles with 9 solo, six tackles for loss, and one pass defended; he also caught one receiving touchdown. In 2025, he saw action in four games on offense, defense, and special teams before suffering a season-ending injury in the Wisconsin game, finishing with one reception for 1 yard, one kickoff return, and two tackles.
