A 4-star recruit in the 2025 class, he appeared in 12 games as a true freshman in 2025, primarily contributing on special teams with 117 snaps in that role. Ross saw limited defensive action, logging 19 snaps at linebacker across two games against Southeastern Louisiana and Houston, recording one tackle in the Texas Bowl. He was named to the 2025 SEC Academic Honor Roll and majors in interdisciplinary studies.
