Taj Powell is a linebacker from Springfield, Ohio, who began his high school career at Centerville before finishing his final two seasons at Springfield. A three-star recruit ranked No. 1,211 overall and No. 73 at linebacker nationally by recruiting services, Powell recorded 76 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, eight quarterback hurries, and two interceptions during his prep career. As a junior, he posted 47 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks while earning honorable mention All-GWOC honors. Powell chose Louisville over eight other programs and currently serves as a true freshman linebacker for the Cardinals.
