Sam Altmann is a quarterback from Lafayette, Louisiana who attended St. Thomas More High School. As a starter for the Cougars, he threw for 5,200 yards and 53 touchdowns over two years. He led St. Thomas More to two LHSAA Division II state titles against cross-town rival Lafayette Christian Academy. In 2022, he earned Most Outstanding Player honors after posting 422 passing yards and six touchdowns in a 52-48 state championship victory. Altmann completed his junior season with 2,833 passing yards and 27 touchdowns, then added 2,452 yards and 26 touchdowns as a senior, earning Class 4A All-State recognition. He redshirted during his freshman year at Louisiana in 2024 and returns as a redshirt sophomore.
