Roy Brackins III is a 6'3", 308-pound center from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who attended Woodlawn High School as a three-star recruit. He redshirted during his freshman year in 2023. In 2024, his redshirt freshman season, he appeared in 13 games and started the Independence Bowl against Army while contributing on the offensive line. He participated in a passing offense that averaged 223.5 yards per game, Conference USA's fourth-best. During his 2025 redshirt sophomore campaign, Brackins appeared in all 13 games with six starts, helping facilitate Louisiana Tech's 195.4 yards-per-game rushing attack, ranked 24th nationally and second in CUSA.
