Ervin Smith is a 6'1", 292-pound offensive lineman for Louisiana Tech who was a three-star recruit from Catholic HS in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Smith chose the Bulldogs over South Alabama, Southern, Lamar, and Prairie View. In high school, he was rated the 51st best player in Louisiana and the 143rd best interior offensive lineman in the class of 2025. He played both tackle and center and earned First Team 5A All-State honors as a senior in 2024, leading Catholic to an 11-1 record and a District Championship. Smith also received First Team All-State recognition as a junior in 2023. He competed in the US Army Bowl and track and field. Smith redshirted during the 2025 season and earned CUSA Academic Medalist and Commissioner's Honor Roll honors in 2026.
