Background & career
Trey Lathan is a linebacker from Goulds, Florida who attended Gulliver Prep High School before playing at West Virginia. A three-star recruit in the 2022 class, Lathan started all 13 games in 2024 as a redshirt sophomore for the Mountaineers, recording 79 tackles and 9.0 tackles-for-loss. He transferred to Kansas for the 2025 season and started all 12 games at linebacker. In 2025, he compiled 86 total tackles with 51 solo, 7.0 tackles-for-loss, 1.5 sacks, five pass breakups, one interception and two fumble recoveries, earning All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors.
