Asa Newsom is a 6'3", 224-pound linebacker from Waverly, Iowa who was recruited to Kansas State as a four-star prospect in the Class of 2023. He played in four games as a reserve in 2023 before suffering a season-ending injury while retaining his redshirt, recording five tackles and a half tackle for loss. After appearing in seven games in 2024, Newsom returned to action in 2025, earning his first three career starts in the final three games of the season. Over nine games last season, he compiled 20 tackles while also recording a fumble recovery at Baylor, and was named Academic All-Big 12.
