Patrick Rea, a 6'3" punter from Melbourne, Australia, transferred to James Madison from Louisiana Tech. At St. Patrick's College Ballarat, he competed in Australian Rules Football. In 2025, Rea appeared in all 14 games as the Dukes' primary punter and holder, recording 48 punts for 1,968 yards at a 41.0-yard average. He placed 16 punts inside the 20-yard line, achieved three touchbacks, and recorded six punts exceeding 50 yards, including a season-long 61-yarder against Marshall on November 8. Rea also logged one rushing attempt for seven yards on a fake punt attempt.
