Rylan Barnes is a linebacker for Iowa State at 6'3" and 230 pounds, hailing from Britt, Iowa, where he prepped at West Hancock High School. He redshirted in 2023 before joining the defense in 2024 as a walk-on. That season, he appeared in nine games with four starts, recording 30 tackles and 3.5 for a loss while helping the Cyclones to an 11-3 record and a bowl victory. In 2025, Barnes saw action across 10 games, finishing with 10 tackles including one for a loss. He earned Academic All-Big 12 honors in both 2024 and 2025.
