Drew Surges is a safety from Chicago, IL who prepped at St. Charles North as a First Team All-State selection and Fox Valley Player of the Year. He walked onto Iowa State's roster in 2023 and earned a scholarship after playing 12 games with two starts as a true freshman, finishing with 16 tackles and one forced-and-recovered fumble. After redshirting in 2024 with an interception in the Pop-Tarts Bowl, Surges appeared in all 12 games in 2025 with three starts, recording 26 tackles including 2.5 for a loss, one interception, two pass breakups, and a fumble recovery. He made significant plays late in the TCU game and closed the season with a forced fumble and interception against Oklahoma State.
