Braden Smith is a 6'4", 310-pound center from Franklin, Texas, who transferred to Iowa State after two seasons at Tarleton State. In 2024, he redshirted while appearing in five games on the defensive line, recording five tackles and one quarterback hurry. During the 2025 season at Tarleton State, Smith played and started all 14 games at right guard, earning First Team Stats Perform FCS All-American and Stats Perform Freshman All-American honors, along with Second Team All-UAC recognition. He helped the Texans reach the FCS Quarterfinals while the offense ranked first nationally in scoring and eighth in total offense.
