Joe Hjelle is a defensive tackle for the Indiana Hoosiers who transferred from Tulsa. The 6'3", 318-pound lineman from Decorah, Iowa began his college career at Iowa Western Community College (2022–23), where he won back-to-back NJCAA National Championships and recorded 29 tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks as a redshirt freshman in 2023. He made his FBS debut at Northwestern State on August 29, 2024, and appeared in 12 games that season, earning All-American Conference All-Academic honors. During his 2025 junior season at Tulsa, Hjelle appeared in 12 games, recording his first solo sack against UAB on November 29.
