Will James is a left cornerback for Houston at 6'0", 185 pounds, who transferred from Southern Miss. The Grand Bay, Alabama native, a three-star recruit out of Theodore High School, redshirted at Mississippi State in 2023 before spending the 2024 season at Southern Miss, where he appeared in 12 games with 10 starts and recorded 35.0 tackles and seven passes defended. In 2025, James started all 13 games for the Cougars, recording 39 total tackles, five pass breakups, four tackles for loss, three interceptions, and one interception return touchdown. He earned All-Big 12 Second Team and All-Texas Second Team honors, along with Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week recognition.
