Shadre Hurst, a 6'2", 295-pound left guard from Cartersville, Georgia, transferred to Houston after three seasons at Tulane. At Cartersville High School, he earned First Team All-State and All-Region honors as an offensive lineman while also competing in wrestling, winning the state heavyweight championship as a senior. During his time with the Green Wave, Hurst made two All-AAC First Team selections and won three American Athletic Conference championships (2022-23, 2025). In 2025, he received Second-Team All-America honors from The Sporting News, earned the No. 6 national guard grade by analytics services, and was tabbed the top graded offensive lineman in the AAC. His blocking helped Tulane's offense allow just 0.77 sacks per game (6th nationally) and 3.69 tackles for loss per game (7th nationally).
