Gaines Wood is a long snapper for Georgia Southern. The Atlanta native attended North Atlanta High School, where he was a two-time AAAAAA Region 4A selection at the position and also competed in lacrosse. Wood played in two games during the 2022-23 season, recording one start and 17 snaps total, including five snaps in his collegiate debut against Marshall and 12 snaps in an overtime victory over App State before being redshirted. He has not appeared in game action since that season. Wood maintains a management major and has earned multiple academic honors, including Dean's List recognition and selections to the Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll.
