As a freshman in 2024, he appeared in 12 games and earned starts in the final three, rushing for 462 yards and three touchdowns on 77 carries while adding 21 receptions for 94 yards and a touchdown. In 2025, Donelson started all 13 games and led Fresno State's ground attack with 583 rushing yards on 142 carries and five touchdowns, while catching 17 passes for 107 yards. He recorded a 167-yard performance against Georgia Southern and a season-long 57-yard run against Southern.
