Hector Chavez is a sophomore linebacker for Florida Atlantic, standing 5'10" and weighing 215 pounds. A native of Miami, Florida, he attended Columbus High School, where he earned three-star recruit status with a composite score of .842 and was ranked the 22nd best linebacker in Florida. During his high school career, Chavez logged 209 tackles, three sacks, and five interceptions while playing both linebacker and running back. In his 2025 freshman season with the Owls, Chavez recorded five total tackles, including four solo tackles, appearing in games against Maryland, FAMU, FIU, Memphis, Rice, UAB, South Florida, Navy, Tulsa, Tulane, and UConn. He contributed on special teams throughout the season.
