Jonathan Akins is a right cornerback from Madison, Florida, who attended Madison County High School. A three-star recruit in the 2023 class, Akins played college football at Maryland from 2023 to 2024. During his redshirt freshman year in 2024, he appeared in six games and recorded two solo tackles, including stops against Virginia and Villanova. He also played in one game during his redshirted 2023 season, the TransPerfect Music City Bowl against Auburn, where he tallied two tackles. Akins transferred to East Carolina in January 2025 but did not appear in games during his first season with the Pirates.
