A three-star prospect rated No. 2 in Delaware, Steel was a three-year letterwinner at Caravel, starting for three seasons. He earned First Team All-State honors in 2023 and 2024, along with back-to-back DIAA 2A Defensive Player of the Year awards those same years. Caravel won DIAA State Championships in 2023 and 2024 during his tenure. Steel did not see action during the 2025 season at UAB before joining the Blue Hens.
