Derrick Eley, a 6'0" wide receiver from Huntersville, NC, played at Hopewell High School before joining Charlotte as a true freshman in 2024, redshirting that season. In 2025, his redshirt sophomore year, Eley appeared in all but the season opener and started two games. He recorded five receptions for 97 yards and one touchdown, with a long of 32 yards. On special teams, Eley returned 18 kickoffs for 501 yards and one touchdown, establishing a program record with a 27.83-yard average. He also returned two punts for five yards.
